Question: I would like to share my Facebook Wall posts to other outlets but I can’t seem to get the URL. What is the URL of a Facebook wall post? –Kathy, Topeka, Kansas
Facebook Wall Post URLs
Kathy, this is a great question because, to increase the popularity of your Facebook page, it behooves you to share your Facebook wall posts on other platforms.
However, for some reason, Facebook (unlike Google+) does not make it evident how to share your wall posts. But, do not fret, we have got you covered…it’s fairly easy to share your Facebook wall posts as long as you know how to do it.
So, let’s take a look.
Below, you can see one of our posts from The SEO System on Facebook…get social and go like us now ’cause we like you!
As you see in the graphic, you simply right-click the date and choose “copy link location” in Firefox (or the equivalent in other browers) and, voila!, you now have the URL of that wall post.
Why did Facebook choose the date as the anchor text for the URL?
This will have to remain a mystery as it does not make sense to us. If any of the Facebook designers out there want to chime in, we would love an explanation.
In the meantime, to see this in action, here is the URL to the above referenced post from our Facebook wall if you want to see this what the result looks like: https://www.facebook.com/The.SEO.System/posts/161342850681887
Finally, Kathy, we want to compliment you for your question because sharing Facebook wall posts makes great sense. We recommend this as part of our award winning SEO and social media software for small businesses (free 30 day trial now available) as a way to increase engagement not only on Facebook but on all of your social media accounts.
